    Hi,

I gave up on this plugin a couple of weeks ago due to some faults that were occurring, and on a basic try-out of a reinstallation, they’re still there.

It all comes down to adding groups, and the redirects that occur within them.

Started adding a few groups to the ‘modified posts’ and ‘redirections’ defaults, nothing spectacular, just ‘WordPress Posts’ and WordPress Pages’.

Going back to check on my new groups, sometimes they were there, and sometimes they’d disappeared.

And then on trying to add a redirect, sometimes the new group was there, and sometimes it had disappeared.

Which leads me to think that when I add an actual redirect, will it still be there, or will it disappear when it feels like it?

This is the reason I pulled out of the plugin a couple of weeks ago and started using another, but I’ll not give up on it until it’s proven that it doesn’t work anymore.

For info – all set up correctly, complete with the API thingy, but still having groups that play hide and seek with you.

Deactivating again until a solution is found.

Do you have any caching on your site?

I do, yes – WP Rocket

Ok, what you described sounds very much like something is incorrectly caching your data.

Groups and redirects don’t change in Redirection unless you modify them.

They’re not changing per se, they’re indiscriminately dissapearing, then coming back for short periods.

    Is there not a fix?

I’ve just emailed WP Rocket to ask them for a solution too.

Sure, that describes a misbehaving cache and is likely caused by a caching system which is returning cached and uncached data. I don’t know WP Rocket, but there’s probably a way to clear the cache.

Oh, I can clear the cache, no problem – just a case of hitting a button.

The problem arises though, when I try to use the Redirection plugin.

Would it be possible to access the site and try and reproduce the problem? At the moment it seems specific to this one site. If so I can be contacted through the support page in the plugin or at https://redirection.me/contact/

Sure, I’ll be in touch in two ticks.

Right, you should now have your message.

    Quick update on this issue:

WP Rocket haven’t got back to me yet, but I decided nonetheless to deactivate WP Rocket to see how Redirection would work without a caching plugin.

I did start playing with the filters, and sure enough once ‘enable all’ was selected, all the groups appeared.

Problem with this though, was that the filters all reset themselves following a page load, and I was back to square one.

The results of me turning off WP Rocket??

Nothing changed at all – the new groups are playing hide and seek as before, anything put in as a redirect is playing hide and seek as before, leading me to believe it’s a Redirection error rather than a WP Rocket one.

Meanwhile, the other redirection plugin I’m having to use is happily redirecting things as we speak.

Might be wrong, and I might need a few instructions as it’s quite a while since I was adding groups and redirects successfully (at least ones that didn’t start playing hide and seek), but I think there might be something hugely wrong with this plugin.

I wasn’t able to reproduce the problem on your site. The groups always show no matter what I do, and don’t play hide and seek – everything works as expected.

Seeing as the plugin is in use in over a million sites, and this is the only report of this problem, I’m more inclined to think this is not necessarily the plugin.

I’m confused what you mean by playing with the filters and ‘enable all’, and I wonder if you are doing something else that is affecting the display. Could you post a screenshot of the page when it’s not working, and one when it is?

Hang on, I think I hit something.

Started deactivating plugins in rows of five, and the Redirection plugin started working.

Then I reactivated them one by one to find the conflict, and couldn’t find it anywhere, the Redirect plugin kept working when all of them were live.

Dunno, must’ve been a gremlin in the works somewhere that needed a bang with a hammer.

Anyway, all seems to be working well now and sorry for any inconvenience.

Ah, I reckon you must have visited just as I was deactivating and re-activating things.

    All sorted now!

Just one more question while you’re here –

Just checking on my 404s and I’m getting loads of

    …stuff.

Should these be redirected, or left alone?
