Redirection stops working after upgrade

Can you provide details about the redirect?

What details do you need?
This is basically the default configuration

How does it not work? What redirect do you have that isn’t working? What have you created for this redirected?

I am having the exact same issue.

I can no longer redirect any of my URLs since I updated my WP version. Every redirect in the plugin is showing green (that it is working), but if I click on a URL that I just changed/redirected, I get the ‘oops, that page does not exist/404.’

Please help! I cannot redirect any of my posts without getting a 404 afterward.

Can you give an example URL and show what redirect you created for it?

This one is occasionally working after I changed it this AM (for hours it gave me the 404 error).

It didn’t work either, but after three tries of deleting and resubmitting the redirect, it now seems to be working?… I have no idea what is going on.

Ok, redirects don’t work intermittently – they either work, or they don’t. When you experience behaviour like this it’s because your browser has cached the old page, and you will need to clear your cache.

Ok, that’s good to know. I had Pinterest pins circulating and was having a heart attack.

Does my mobile phone cache work the same way? I had been checking these URLs on both a desktop and my mobile device (in the FB and Twitter app) when they weren’t working. I don’t think I’ve ever emptied a mobile cache…

I’ve never had this problem before so it just must have been ironic timing with the WP update. Phew.

My cache is cleared, and I am still having redirection issues. When I click on the link from Pinterest via a pin (on my laptop) to the above Instagram article (https://theuncorkedlibrarian.com/ugly-instagram), it says 404: page does not exist.

Also, under Support for the WP Redirection plugin, I tried the URL Redirect Tester and it says 404 as well for https://theuncorkedlibrarian.com/ugly-instagram. Yet, the link works above in this message.

I tried the link in another browser on my desktop, and I get a 404.

I then tried the link via Pinterest pin on my mobile, and I get a 404.

all redirection (1270) are not working
they are all simple redirection:
source to target, exact match (URL only) with HTTP code 301

@christine I’m using as a temporary workaround (as I’m like you I can’t have the redirection not working) the plugin Redirect List (which is a very simple redirect plugin – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/redirect-list/; even it says not tested on WP 5.1 it is working perfectly fine)

Some services can add parameters to a URL, and it will no longer match. I don’t know if Pinterest is doing this.

@benoithamet ok but can you give some details? Is there a URL I can look at? I don’t think your problem is related to Christines.

thanks John, problem is I have been obliged to use another redirection plugin as workaround as this one stops working
don’t know which detail I can provide more; as explained the conf is pretty oob, URL to URL with no regex
if you can explain what you need would be helpful to help you identify what is going on

I basically need to see the problem in action. For example, one URL that isn’t working, and a screenshot of the redirect for that URL.

Thanks. That seems to be redirecting fine, although not with Redirection?
