Redirection Tables not created on Installation

What kind of redirection are you trying to add? WordPress does not play well with .htaccess files sometimes. If you describe what type of redirect you are trying to make, what error you are getting, and what problems you are having as a result, there might be someone who can help provide some tips for you.

I’m using the Redirection plugin.

It is supposed to create a table upon install that holds the entries for Redirection. I’ve used it on other sites (different hosts) in the past with no problem.

I don’t know much about the .htaccess file. Is there a part I should be looking at?

I went ahead and installed the mentioned plugin on my site and added a redirect to test it. Everything seemed to work. The tables were created as well.

I didn’t notice it making any changes to the .htaccess though, so that can be ignored.

A couple things to try would be to run a repair on your database, and also try deactivating other plugins to make sure that other plugins aren’t interfering with it.

No luck. This plugin works on my other sites (different web hosts), but not with BlueHost. I think I am going to reach out to them for an explanation. Thanks.

My sites are also hosted with BlueHost. If you find out what was causing it, I would be curious to know, as it works perfectly for me.

You may want to try a test install and put the plugin on it, then see if that test installation works for you.

I have been using this plugin for as long as I’ve been with Bluehost and I have never had an issue.

Have you done as suggested by @bh_wp_fan and deactivated all plugins to see whether you still get error?

I fixed it.

My install was corrupted. When you remove the Redirection plugin, there are 3 rows that don’t get removed in the wp_options table. When I removed them and reinstalled, it all worked.

The 3 rows are:
redirection_options
redirection_version
redirection_module_cache

I had exactly the same problem.

Had the redirection plugin installed before and deinstalled it, thinking not needing it anymore. And after a reinstallaion I was not able to add any redirection and there were also no modules available under the module tab on the plugin options page.

After deleting the 3 by coffeehero mentioned tables everything worked fine! This issue should be mentioned on the plugin page within the faq section. It took me several hours on 3 days to find this solution.
