Redirect Editor has been working well on a few sites I have built

I first noticed that it wasn’t redirecting.

I have it on this site – and it’s worked fine for years, but now it no longer redirects
    /barn-owl-facts/barn-owl-cams/owl-cam/nestcam-diary-2017/ https://www.barnowltrust.org.uk/nestcam-diary-2017/

And when I add a new redirect it wipes out my entire list of redirects! Good job I have it backed up.

I notice the plugin was updated 4 days ago. Tried rolling back to 1.7.7 and then 1.6.2 but no luck. Blank list and won’t save.

    Any ideas?

Update: Situation for me was exacerbated by the caching with my hosting.

1.6.2 list of redirects is saved, redirection working nicely (yay!)
1.7.7 list of redirects is saved but redirection not working

currently have rolled back to 1.6.2

The current version is 1.8.1, where redirection issues were fixed. Is everything fixed since the caching issue has been solved?

I have disabled caching on the hosting now. This is the situation

1.6.2 list of redirects is saved, redirection working nicely (yay!)
1.7.7 list of redirects is saved but redirection not working
1.8.1 list of redirects is not saved and redirection not working

With 1.8.1, redirection does not work at all, and pressing the “Save Redirect” button wipes out all saved redirects. Which means the plugin version 1.8.1 fails to do what it used to do in 1.6.2.

On barnowltrust.org.uk I have 400 lines of redirects – these get entirely wiped out by any editing actions in 1.8.1. I then have to downgrade to 1.6.2 to re-insert them (and redirects work with 1.6.2). Then I deactivate 1.6.2 and activate 1.8.1. I check my redirect list is there (if i try and edit anything or add a new redirect, the whole list gets wiped out) but then the redirects don’t work any longer.

So I am rolling back to 1.6.2 again, which I have retained from a site backup made in May before the “Bye Bye Hacker” incident in July.

I am not sure at which version our redirects ceased working. We noticed it yesterday. I have the plugin working on four or five sites, so it looks like I will have to roll back to 1.6.2 on those sites also.

If 1.6.2 is working and 1.8.1 is not, it doesn’t sound like a plugin conflict.

I just located a site backup from 19 July and fished out version 1.7.5.

When I activate 1.7.5, redirects are broken on this version also with barnowltrust.org.uk. This was the version that fixed the Bye Bye Hacker glitch, but I think I just assumed that redirects would work with this version on this site.

So I am rolling back to 1.6.2 again.

OK on Gaiahouse.co.uk I have 860 lines of redirects. I pressed “Save Redirect” and it removes all hard returns and puts all the redirects into one line.

I have replaced 1.8.1 on that site with 1.6.2

On Bellacouche.com with 85 redirects, 1.8.1 not redirecting (85 redirects)

    Rolled back to 1.6.2

This is extremely odd, as we tested this on a live site before releasing using Linux and the latest version of WordPress. Could you email [email protected] the 1.6.2 code? THe code we have been working very hard on and has been tested rigourosly 2.0 is finally done and ready to be released. 2.0 is a complete rewrite of the entire software, by a programmer other than myself. It took a lot of time and work to get it just right.

Have sent you the code for 1.6.2 which works OK for me. Maybe more testing is required before releasing code changes?

When working on a product that isn’t working on just one environment, rather working in every single possible configuration under different hosts configurations, the “maybe more testing is required” theory flies out the window. We can test for a decade, someone will still have a weird config that makes it malfunction. As we can all tell, this malfunction is localized to a certain configuration or there would be wider cry for help. Two people having issues, while not optimal shows it has something to do with their configuration.

This was fixed in Airtight security 2.0. If you have any issues, whatsoever, let us know your WordPress version, what version of our software you’re using, if you’re a premium airtight security member ( higher priority to issues and feature requests from premium members), and what plugins you are running that might for some reason be colliding with our plugin.

Thank you for being part of the airtight community!
