Clicking on the links directs to a 404. I’ve tried the following:

    – Flushing permalinks
    – Manually copying force-download.php to the wp-content directory
    – Re-installing the plugin

Per earlier conversations in this forum, here is a publicly available page that I set up. There are multiple instances on the site where we’re trying to use the plugin, and all of them are having the problem. We’ve been using it for months with no issue, until recently – unfortunately I don’t have an exact date when it started.

    Any ideas?

Is it possible you installed another plugin in the last few months that is now affecting this? To narrow it down, one thing you can do is deactivate all the plugins except Download Shortcode, flush the permalinks and see if it works. If it does work, reactivate plugins one at a time to see who the culprit is.

If it ends up not working, even with no other plugins enabled, there may be other environmental causes.

Unrelated: As it happens, I’m actually in the process of rewriting this plugin to not rely on the physical file anymore, which I think should make troubleshooting quite a bit easier going forward.

    Better example here: https://onoj.com/download-shortcode-test/

    – Permalinks are set correctly
    – i verified that force-download.php copied to the wp-content directory on install of the plugin (didn’t even have to manually move it)
    – this is a FRESH install of the plugin
    – NO other plugins are active on this site

I think this is likely an issue with WP 3.9.1. I bet the plugin no-workie on 3.9.1.
