    Hi there,
I used to have the Premium version of Yoast SEO and used it to set my 301 redirects.
Now I’m using just the free version. I read that my redirects still work with the free version. But my question is: How can I edit this redirects now? As far as I can see they didn’t become a part of the htaccess, right? So I can’t edit them in there as well.

Thank you very much for your answer in advance!

    Hello @marionrehor

Thanks for reaching out regarding your redirects.

The Yoast SEO free doesn’t have a redirect manager, so you can’t edit those redirects in the plugin, especially if they’re not webserver/htaccess redirects. However, if you chose the PHP redirect method, they’re stored in the?wp_options?table of the WordPress database, where the column option_name is?wpseo-premium-redirects-base.

    Hi Maybellyne,

thank you very much for your response!

Just for my understanding: What do you mean by “if they’re not htaccess redirects”? I thought, every redirect has to be written in the htaccess.
What I was looking for is

    • the general redirect from non-www to www.
    • redirects that were made from single URLs to other single URLs.

Just to make sure: Are these redirects always part of the htaccess?

    Or

    • for the general redirect from non-www to www: Does the setting in WordPress of WordPress Adress (URL) and Website-Adress (URL) under the general settings cause the redirect and this is not written in the htaccess?
    • for single URLs redirects made with Yoast SEO these don’t become a part of the htaccess?

Sorry for this additional questions. I just haven’t understood yet how Yoast SEO “affects” the htaccess and what becomes part of it and what not.

Thank you very much again for your answer!

    Best regards,

    Marion

    Hello @marionrehor

Thanks for following up. There are two redirect methods – PHP redirects or htaccess/webserver; the former is usually the default.

The redirect from the non-WWW to the WWW version is a server-level redirect that would have been implemented by your web hosting provider and not via our plugin; that’d be in the .htaccess file. Redirects from single URLs to other single URLs via our plugin would likely be PHP redirects unless you changed the default method.
