  • It sounds like you may have some caching plugins that are storing the previous version of your post/pages.

Can you please try clearing the cache from any of your plugins? some hosts store caches on the server level, you could also reach out to your host about clearing the cache if it doesn’t go away after clearing the cache from your plugins.

As for the two images, I may be seeing them slightly different on my screen, but they don’t look like the same image to me – the one hosted by Photon appears to be more vibrant in colour compared to the original. I’ve taken a screenshot of what I see on my screen with the two images side by side:

    Hi lamday,

I have cleared the cache on my end, and will reach out to my host about the issue now.

I’m glad you see it, too! They are, in fact, the same image. The original is the direct link to the media file.. the second is the link that shows up after the post is published. It looks pixelated, the colors are slightly off, and it starts with a “i0.wp” address, instead of a direct link.

Thanks so much for your support

    Hi lamday,

I just finished speaking with my host, and they assured me it wasn’t anything to do with their end. They did clear the cache and the temp files, just in case, but it seems like the problem persists.

I don’t understand why WordPress isn’t linking to the image on my server, but rather to a “https://i0.wp.com/” address (which, from what I understand, is Photon/Jetpack)

Hi Nick, Ah thanks for trying that out. I just want to clarify, are those images part of a tiled gallery? I can’t see the page to your images anymore as the site has an under construction page.

Jetpack’s tiled gallery will always load the images as those Photon URL’s as the images need to be passed to Photon to for processing to create those tiled galleries.

Is it possible you could remove the maintenance page and reconnect Jetpack? At the moment your site’s connection to Jetpack seems broken:

When it’s properly connected, as Jetpack support folks we can see more info about your site which will help us troublesooht.

    Hi there!

The site is now back up, sorry about that! No, the images are not part of a tiled gallery..

I will reactivate Jetpack so you can take a look. I still have Photon disabled, but even after this theme change, my images are still linking to the Photon URLs (which seem to be a stretched out version of the photo? Maybe that’s causing the drop in quality?)

Thanks again for your assistance ??

    Hi Nick,

Looks like your site’s pages may be cached. Can you try clearing the cache stored by your plugins? This should hopefully allow your pages to load the original images rather than Photon links.

Could you upload the original file for this image https://servingrealness.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/full-quality-2.jpg – to something an file hosting platform like Dropbox and share the link? I’d like to take a look at the image see if the images differ to the one hosted on your site.

    Cheers,

    Hey there,

That was my original thought, too. I have cleared the cache on my end, and reached out to have my server’s cache cleared as well.. Still no change.

Here is the image uploaded to my Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_iEihU7XJi2ZzFFSloxRHNPOXc

    Thanks again!

Hi @nickabell – Could you try deleting the cache and then disabling your WP Fastest Cache completely? The images should not be loading over Photon once the module is disabled.

Can pick one of the images in your post and change the filename then re-upload it?

This is to test whether Photon is actually still active or not, if Photon is disabled then your re-uploaded image shouldn’t be passed through Photon, which would point to one of your caching plugins being overly aggressive with it’s cache.

    @lamday

That seemed to fix it! I don’t know why deactivating didn’t fix it before.. Thanks so much for your assistance! Is there another Cache plugin you recommend that doesn’t cause this problem?

    Thanks again!

    Hi @nickabell

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you! That’s odd, it must not be clearing the cache properly.

I can recommend using WP Super Cache, it’s a sister plugin to Jetpack so it’s less likely to cause any conflicts.
