Reducing posts appearing on Homepage

  • Am trying to reduce the number of posts appearing on my Homepage to 3 only.

    Have looked on the forum and followed the instructions: Settings>Reading>Blog pages show at most. Set this to 3 and saved changes but when I update there are still four showing. I would like three posts to show and up to 10 in the sidebar.
