When activated Redux Framework causes a critical error. WordPress message: There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

In my inbox the email said: WordPress has a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email. In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, Redux Framework.

Error Details

An error of type E_ERROR was caused in line 172 of the file

It sounds like you’re still using the Redux Vendor Support plugin? It’s been updated to support Redux v4 and has updated libraries. That’s the only way that error would be triggered.

Please deactivate and remove the old version and install the new version using this file: https://github.com/reduxframework/redux-vendor-support/archive/refs/heads/master.zip (the repository is here: https://github.com/reduxframework/redux-vendor-support).

I’ll add a class alias in the next version of Redux so this doesn’t happen for anyone else.

Im having the same issue. I dont have the vendor support plugin installed. Just redux 4.4.4. The error happens when trying to access the theme settings. Im using theme Unicon.

eric007au, I solved the problem by re-downloading the theme from Themeforest. Deleting the theme in WP and reinstalling it, as well as redux 4.4.4. No problems now. Hope that helps.

How can i download it again and new setup but still keep all content?

Thanks Ronnie, i tried that but still get the same error when trying to access the theme settings. Do you also use Union theme?

No worries Ronnie. Looks like my theme has redux embedded (probably an older version). I was advised to deactivate the Redux plugin. That fixed my issue. Thanks for you assistance, appreciate it.
