Hi @angelolazzari – I hear your frustration and I’m sorry to hear you struggled for so long to add some images and custom HTML.

Is there anything specific you can share about the problems you ran into there, so I can perhaps lend a hand? Cheers.

Hi @zoonini thank you for your reply. IMO the problem is about the usability: you never know where to click, is not a linear process, I see the tool is a power one, but finally, It was more productive and easy the old one… where you know where the title was, the description, if you want an image you put the image… I don’t know, I tried loads of time to get used to it, but no way… I think there is too much freedom to act that finally it became a black box that is not guide correctly the user… thank you for you time and happy new year!!!

@angelolazzari Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I appreciate it! I’ll admit that I personally resisted using the block editor for a long time (I don’t like change!), but to be honest, I now find it much more intuitive than the old editor, and so much easier to create attractive layouts. I hope that if you ever decide to give it another chance that you’ll discover the same. ?? There’s a good tutorial intro to the block editor here. Cheers and Happy New Year too!

@zoonini How is it possible that you found it more intuitive GB than the simply “plain text” experience? There is nothing more intuitive that a blank page and a keyboard. I d really like to see your workflow, maybe i ll learn something.

I don’t mind change ( actually I ve installed Gutemberg before it was integrated into wp, I moved a blog of mine and 2 clients to ghost and another one to pico – just for the sake of the novelty) but the UX fof gutemberg is Still atrocius: i ve not found a way to change the permalink before publish the post, the block editor is always on top of important text, the bullet always needs 3 click to change, the mark down NOW (2023) seems to work fine, i cannot copy paste the document, more often than not the the + sign to add content takes second to appear, moving with keyboard is pain, editing the footer is basically impossible now. Many of my client stopped blogging / creating content coz what it took 1 hour before is taking 2 hours now and it s stressful. <– this is killing wp.

The experience of writing is BAD BAD BAD, and hiding behind the “intuitive” or “i was not using it coz i was resistant to change” narrative is so damaging if you want to build something good. Let’s speak with data.

How much did the “blogging” declined since gutemberg arrived?

And as a moderator, please use the above mentioned ghost to see how a good UX is. I ve 5+ blog on wp and dozens of clients using it, i ve been an early adopter and i Love WP, but it s dying…

Hi @rotello looks like there is another review where we are currently communicating, please refer to the issue below for a response:

I now find it much more intuitive than the old editor, and so much easier to create attractive layouts.

A Pro does not need it to create beautiful layouts, and amateurs won’t be able to. No matter if they use the classic editor or Gutenberg. But they can do a lot more HARM using Gutenberg. I had to fix my fair share of customer sites where the users tried to be “creative”. It was a mess. ALL THE TIME.

As a PRO you create a good and robust layout and tell your customer to use the very basic formats like bold, italic etc. The site will still look good even after years.
