    Hi,

A client of mine sells refurbished car parts.

    What he would like:

Buyer purchases a steering wheel for example for $200.
Included in the purchase price is a $100 deposit that can be refunded if the buyer posts back their old steering wheel.
So $300 total cost paid at checkout. Done.

The buyer can choose to bin their old steering wheel and forfeit the $100 deposit refund, or post back/drop in the store with their old steering wheel and get the $100 deposit returned.

I’ve searched and struggle to find what I want as so many plugins are offering part payment ‘deposits’ or hire/booking plugins offering booking ‘deposits’ and of course neither of these are what I need.

I’d like a way or a plugin that will achieve what my client wants, but a plugin would need to be well maintained and up to date with WooCommerce versions.

    Any help much appreciated. Thanks!

    Matthew

Can you checkout this plugin: https://codecanyon.net/item/woocommerce-security-deposits-wordpress-plugin/19988389

    Otherwise:

This is a fairly complex development topic. I’m going to leave it open for a bit to see if anyone is able to chime in to help you out.

I can also recommend <a href="https://developer.woocommerce.com/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">the WooCommerce Developer Resources Portal</a> for resources on developing for WooCommerce.

You can also visit the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/advanced.woocommerce/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">WooCommerce Facebook group</a> or the <code>#developers</code> channel of the <a href="https://woocommerce.com/community-slack/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">WooCommerce Community Slack</a>. We're lucky to have a great community of open-source developers for WooCommerce, and many of our developers hang out there, as well.

@oaoyadeyi Thanks for the quick reply.

I will have a look at the documentation for the plugin you mentioned but it’s not been updated since August 2021 and only listed as compatible with WooCommerce 5.1.x, so I’m cautious about the long term support of this plugin.

Yes if anyone else can assist with suggestions it would be much appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hi @mattystrya

I looked around but couldn’t find a plugin that meets the exact requirement in this situation. You might want to get a custom-coded plugin for this.

You may be able to find someone willing to volunteer their time and knowledge in the free PHP support forum at PHP Builder or within the Advanced WooCommerce group on Facebook.

For assistance with customization or development with your site, we recommend reaching out to someone on our customizations page.

In the meantime let us see if anyone is able to chime in here to help you out.

Seems we’ve not had additional inputs on this thread. Thus, we encourage you to make use of the above resources.

I’ll go ahead and mark the thread as resolved but please feel free to create a new thread if you have further questions.
