Refunded orders are counted as products sold.
Analytics settings allows exclusion of other statuses but says “The Refunded status can not be excluded.”

This means the products analytics are invalid.

Particularly annoying when duplicate orders have been coming in and then refunded.

Analytics also seems to hang with extreme cpu usage on php7.4.16, possibly since latest patches, but that’s another issue and appears resolved by downgrading to 7.3.

    Hi @jonathanmoorebcsorg,

Thanks for reaching out to us about this! I took a close look at my site and wasn’t able to replicate this.

Here is what I see on my test site – this is a product report filtered for a where each order was for a single product and only one order was refunded. You can see 72 orders reflecting only 71 products sold, as the refunded order is not counted:

When I drill down further to the month period of the refunded order, you can see that there are 2 products sold over 3 orders – the refunded product is not counted:

Could you take a look at that and let us know if that looks similar on your end, if you’re seeing different behavior or if I’ve missed something here?

That’s definitely not what we want to hear! Could you please let us know if you’re seeing any server side PHP errors logged when it hangs like this?

    Thank you!

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.

    I’m seeing this problem too.

I placed two orders for a test product that I created, paid for them, and then refunded them.

The report still shows them as “Sales” under Analytics -> Products.

When I go to Analytics -> Settings, it lets me choose “Excluded Statuses” for the report, but it says “Orders with these statuses are excluded from the totals in your reports. The Refunded status can not be excluded.”

Not being able to exclude refunded orders makes the reports totally useless for my clients, who need to know how many products ACTUALLY SOLD and were paid for.

But this seems to be a problem with WooCommerce itself. I don’t have a plugin called WooCommerce Admin installed.
