Has anyone encountered this error before?

“Refused to apply style from: ‘domain. com/wp-content/cache/autoptimize/css/autoptimize_33e0309dc24cc0209ccfbb29073b3852.css’ because its MIME type (‘text/html’) is not a supported stylesheet MIME type, and strict MIME checking is enabled.”

I’ve tried clearing caches, and even disabling Autoptimize and Elementor, but I still get the issue of my styles not being displayed. It only happens when logged out. I get these errors in all browsers.

This seems like a web server configuration issue (mime type being set wrong for .css files) which is confirmed by the fact that you have the same problem when AO is not active?

Hm..Any idea why this just now happened? I’ve had this site for several months and haven’t changed anything. The problem just started.

Had an epiphany while asleep; could those responses be 404’s which indeed are mimetype text/html? Can you share your site’s URL?

I really do appreciate you following up. Those links are indeed 404 errors. It’s either serving old/non-existent css file paths or blocking them for some reason.

I talked to my hosting provider and they couldn’t help. They also confirmed that there wasn’t any sort of server caching. I tried everything from uninstalling plugins to doing a full restore from a few days ago. I rolled back my Elementor plugin several versions and gave up after a few hours of unsuccessful troubleshooting. The webpages were still loading the optimized code (with broken paths) even when everything was off.

I just checked again (6 hours later) and it looks to be working now. I don’t know how, but I’m going to chalk it up to being some sort of plugin/cache conflict.

I’ll keep an eye on it, but at this point I’m too afraid to mess with anything. (It’s high volume e-comm site). Thanks again for following up.

OK, feel free to follow up here if the problem re-appears. And if need be share your URL on mail to futtta-at-gmail-dot-com ??

    Hello,

Is there a fix to this? We are also having the same problem on our sites. Same error message, and the pages appear to still be optimized even after disabling the cache, Autoptimize, and Async JS.

I would have to wait hours before I can see my edits to the settings.

    Thanks!

in that case there _has_ to be an extra page cache somewhere @timidyo, either at your hoster or a 3rd party like sucuri or cloudflare or ..
