Regenerated Images are KBs Larger

    Hi, We when I regenerate images the file sizes are larger than the originals. This makes no sense. How can that be possible? This is very counterproductive for SEO and I certainly do no want to recompress them again because I already compressed them based on their visual quality; automated recompression sucks and people want credits.

    Hi there,

    Yes, that’s definitely not desired behaviour! Unfortunately, I’m not sure there’s much within this plugin that we can do to fix that. The actual resizing is done by WordPress itself.

    To verify, could you please try running the CLI command wp media regenerate <attachment-id>? If that has the same effect, then this is an issue within WordPress.
