• Hi there,

Sorry if this has been asked before – it seems such an obvious requirement i cannot believe I dont find more info out there… What I would like is:

    1. Our main site is ourdomain.com – this is the generic site

    2. But we also have mydomain.asia for example, which refers to the same site

    3. But with pages loaded with the .asia domain version, on **some** pages such as contact us we will do a <if this is .asia> display asian tele number </if>

Other than that the site works normally, so we switch a few things, but not the whole site…

I started to try to implement https://timersys.com/plugins/geotargeting-pro/ BUT it is not PHP 5.2 compatible, and we cannot simply update PHP easily as we have old bespoke system running on same server.

Then when I search for geo/country selector/multi site plugins, they all seem to be updated 2-3 years ago, so are not any good for latest WP.

Enabling Multisite on an existing system is no good, I dont need independent websites at all…

I feel like I must be missing something very obvious… Surely having a mydomain.com with mydomain.asia and mydomain.us with some content switching is a very easy and common approach to basic regionalisation of a website?

Any help greatly appreciated as what I thought was an easy task has turned into a real pain.

    Many thanks, Steve.

  • What you’re doing is right, and the only thing that you need to do is find a more updated geo-location database. This may or may not be in a plugin. If it’s in a plugin then it’s probbaly easier, but if it’s not in a plugin then you’ll need to do a bit of custom coding to query it.

Many thanks for the update ??

OK, so sounds like I best outsource some custom work…

    Kind regards, Steve.
