Register Plus & CYC Dead Verification Link

  • Morning all,

    The Verification Link sent to users in their confirmation email through Register+ is not working. This is true both in the original text email and customised HTML email.

    On clicking the link, users are returned to the WP-Login page, styled in Customise Your Community. However, their username has neither been verified according to the Users Panel within WP nor does WP-Login Form accept their username. WP-Login returns “Invalid Username” dialogue.

    The short tag I am using in the custom email is %siteurl% and it produces a link in the form ‘https://…/wp-login.php?register_verification=495kc0k9bg8b9178l1357am68c’

    But this doesn’t work. Is there a code problem in my WP-Login? Or is there a code conflict between CYC and Register+ in parsing the data from one to the other. Real shame if so because the setup is actually looking quite good.

  • Hi! I have exactly the same problem here. So I disabled the CYC plugin and tried registering a dummy user and it worked. So, apparently it is an incompatibility issue indeed.

    In the past few days, I had to make several corrections to the CYC plugin to suit my needs, so it is not the standard anymore. But if I can find some way to fix this problem, I’ll post it here. But I warn you not to have big expectations, because I’m not a programmer and my php knowledge is very limited… sorry :$.

    But if you want to adventure fixing it yourself, here’s one hint you could find useful: apparently CYC customize the login and register pages replacing them with its own version of the forms, so I’m not surprised something important would have been missing. Besides, the CYC is fairly simpler than Register Plus, so I’ll begin looking for the solution in CYC and not in Register Plus, even when reports say that Register Plus has not being updated to work with WP 9.2.x

    Hey! Just after I sent my message above, I decided to give it another try searching with a different SE, and it turned out that this issue was solved more than a year ago! But I feel glad at least we were on the right path hehe.

    I added the recommended line of code to the login form in CYC.php plugin, and it worked as expected. I hope this work for you, too.

    Reg Plus is in oblivion. The project has forked and this is the supported version called Pie Register https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/pie-register/
    It has all the features of Reg Plus and works with the latest WP releases.
