Hi. I am getting the following error when trying to use Jetpack:

Jetpack could not contact WordPress.com: register_http_request_failed. This usually means something is incorrectly configured on your web host.
    SSL read: error:00000000:lib(0):func(0):reason(0), errno 0

I read over some of the other forum posts on this. Adding define( 'JETPACK_CLIENT__HTTPS', 'NEVER' ); to my wp-config did not work. I have a message in to my host about the openssl issue, but in the mean time does anyone know if there are any known issues using Jetpack with Bulletproof Security or Wordfence?

EDIT: Easystreet.com is the hosting provider, if that helps.

    Hello!

I’m not familiar with either of those plugins, but we’ve seen other security related plugins affect the back and forth connection that Jetpack and WordPress.com needs in order to function properly.

Can you try disabling those two plugins and try connecting again?

Otherwise, the issue is related to a specific version of cURL installed on some servers, 7.31.0. Ask your host if they have that version on your server, and if so, if they can update it to a more recent version.

Let me know what they say. Thanks!

I installed Jetpack on a different website hosted with a different hosting company, but with the same two security plugins (Wordfence and BulletProof Security), and I was able to connect with no problems at all, so I’m sure the issue is with the hosting company. Thanks for your help.
