Registered Sidebar not showing up as option to post on page

Hi,
I have registered a different sidebar with different formatting from the main theme sidebar. This sidebar shows up in appearance->widgets. I was wondering why simple sidebar does not show it as an option to replace sidebar on a page. I tried adding the sidebar with new sidebar (simple page sidebar new link) on the page but the formatting for this side bar was for the primary sidebar in the theme. I didn’t want that. This sidebar has no formatting except what I put has html inside the text widget. Please help.
