Other options include the form integrations as listed under https://docs.itthinx.com/document/affiliates/setup/settings/integrations/ and you can use their protection mechanisms during registration.

But, protecting from registration bots goes beyond just a plugin’s responsibility. Here are just two references that you can consider:

– fail2ban
– https://www.sorbs.net

I would have to disagree on going beyond the plugin’s responsibility. If you have a registration form in your plugin then it needs to be protected from bots. Of course that’s my opinion.
