• In both cases, enabling and disabling “registration in the native wordpress settings”, the registration doesn’t work. After filling in the registration form and clicking subscribe, the registration page simply reloads with the form, missing the password. No user is created.

I noticed a contradiction in the documentation:

How to stop users registering via wp-login page?
Ultimate Member registration works even when registration via wp-login.php?action=register is disabled.

    contradicts:

    Registration is currently disabled
If you are seeing an error above your registration form which say “Registration is currently disabled” it is because the native WordPress that allows members to register is turned off.

    Hi @littleclue,

This issue can be caused due to some conflicts with your theme or other plugins.
Can you please try to do a quick conflict test so we can rule out any conflicts and see if this issue goes away. Here is the doc on how to do a conflict test if you are not sure how to do it.

    Regards.

I did that. Couldn’t find a conflict. Then, I updated to 2.0 to see if the problem goes away. Noticed that can’t update the extensions to 2.0 without account/paying. Reverted back to the old version and it worked. In short: deleting and reinstalling the plugin does it.

What about the contradiction? Does disabling wp-login only work in 2.0?

I found that same issue and documentation —?that should really be cleared up, UM team. Either delete the doc that is no longer valid, or update it with the correct info. One page says the box doesn’t need to be checked (this is preferred, so we don’t have random spam registrations) and the other says you have to have that checked in general settings to allow registrations.

In either case, I’m having the same problem. There was no issue until I followed the recommendation in your documentation saying that the box *didn’t* need to be checked (https://docs.ultimatemember.com/article/269-how-to-stop-users-registering-via-wp-login-page). Came back a few days later and found that error message in the registration section saying that “Registration is currently disabled” as the OP stated. That means for several days, no one was able to sign up on our site, which is not great for our nonprofit. :/ Went and checked out the documentation again and found the same discrepancy within your docs (https://docs.feibisi.com/projects/ultimatemember/article/173-registration-is-currently-disabled.html). So I enabled registrations in WP’s settings again and it still isn’t turning back on, even after clearing cache/cookies/looking for conflicts.
