Registration Setup Help!

Hello friendly people,

I have created a new site. its basically an edu blog+ forum…. I need users to be registered on my site..
here is what I did.
installed WordPress
enabled user registrations from settings
installed bbpress n some plugins
installed n customized a theme

but now I observed that users cant register on My site.
After registration, the user does not receive any password through email, but after registration it shows that you will receive password by email.Please help me
