Hello, i have detected since i have installed RSFirewall plugin in my WordPress site no one can register to my blog and no one can login in the frontend.

I have verified that if at RSFirewall / Configuration / Backend Password Tab if i have enabled “Enable Backend Password” and “Enable Admin Slug” if any one try to login or register to the blog im getting “The site is experiencing technical difficulties” error message.

If i disable “Enable Admin Slug” and try to Register or login from the frontend, users are asked to type the password from “Enable Backend Password” and this password it is supposed to be used only for administration area.

If i disable “Enable Backend Password” and enabled “Enable Admin Slug” and try to register or login from the frontend im getting “The site is experiencing technical difficulties” error message.

So, what to do to avoid this?

Is any way to keep enabled “Enable Backend Password” and “Enable Admin Slug” options and they just work for Backend and in the front end users can login (without asking for the extra password) and can register to my blog?

Right now, i have disabled both options to make users able to register and login to my site.

I hope i have explained myself correctly.
    Thank you

    Hello,
Unfortunately WordPress uses the same login and registration path for both admins and users, so using the “Enable Backend Password” will affect them as well. The same goes for the “Enable Admin Slug” option. These options are carried over from Joomla! where the admin and frontend login are separate – so in WordPress you can use them only if you are the only one logging into your website.

If you still want to use these options and allow the subscribers to login or register we recommend using a 3rd party plugin for the frontend. This will allow users to successfully login or register, because these are not using the standard WordPress pages.

We’ve tested the “AJAX Login and Registration modal popup + inline form” (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/ajax-login-and-registration-modal-popup/) – this is a free plugin and works alongside RSFirewall! and you can keep both options enabled. You can try other plugins if this is not suitable for you.

Hello! Thank you for your response and your recommendation!

I have tested AJAX Login and Registration modal popup + inline form plugin and it is a really beautiful and functional plugin! It works perfect, now i have no issues for users to login and register if i have enabled “Enable Backend Password” and “Enable Admin Slug”.

But i found another issue =(, if i have enabled “Enable Admin Slug” the issue appears again when you Logout, when users try to logout they got “The site is experiencing technical difficulties” error message.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Hello, you are right the plugin we recommended does not handle logout redirects so basically it will redirect the user to the normal WordPress login page…which is not available for the users, thus the error.

So we just released a new version that handle this kind of situation. You just have to update the plugin and after that you can go to RSFirewall! -> Configuration -> Backend Password and there you will find the “Logout Redirect Link”. You can add the site URL or any URL from the site and when a user logges out they will be redirected accordingly. Keep in mind that you must enter a full URL like “http(s)://yoursite.com” or “http(s)://yoursite.com/logged-out-url”.

    Regards!
