    Hi,

it seems that the “Regularly delete old raw data” feature is not working on my website. I have dozens of matomo_archive_blob & matomo_archive_numeric tables in my database even from times where matomo wasn’t even installed on my wbsite.

How can I get rid of them?

    Thanks, Heike

    Hi,

I checked the link and I configured Matomo to delete everything after 15 month – but I still have tables from 2013 in my database.

I installed matomo in November 2022, so where do these tables come from?

    Please help ??

    Thanks, Heike

Hello @hlorenz will you be able to send us some screenshots of the tables you are referring to so we can investigate on this further?

    Of course:

This is only the beginning of these archive files, they go up to totday.

    Thanks for your help, Heike

Upon investigating, Its expected in most cases that there are some empty?archive_numeric_*?and?archive_blob_*?for older dates. However, 16kb is likely the minimum block size for their operating system and that is effectively empty.

I know, but that doesn’t answer my question:

Where do these tables come from and how do I get rid of them?

    Thanks, Heike

Hi again @hlorenz You can still delete the old data by following this guide How do I delete historical Matomo data? (data retention for old web analytics raw data logs and/or old processed reports)

Another option would be delete the data from the database by writing a SQL query, data related to Matomo_archive_blob tables of the database. Please take note that this option is not support via WordPress forum.

If you still need assistance and would be happy to pay our support team for the extra help. We’d like to offer the option of a Support plan, where you get additional Matomo technical and product support services. Hi,

it seems we are talking in circles: you already send me that link and I responded this: “I checked the link and I configured Matomo to delete everything after 15 month – but I still have tables from 2013 in my database.”

So sending the link again doesn’t take me any further…

You can just delete the tables, eg?DROP TABLE matomo_archive_blob_2013_01?and then the same for each month in 2013. But please take note that manually dropping tables, there is no option to recover it if you made a mistake. I would recommend to backup first and double check your queries before running them.

Lastly, the table might get recreated even if you delete it when you try to invalidate data or might be related to the automatic data deletion task which you can check for more information thru this link https://github.com/matomo-org/matomo/issues/19780
