• I did an install on top of my outdated wordpress through simplescripts in bluehost. Turns out this was a fresh install. I backed up my site. Now I am trying to get the content that I had on my site back into the fresh install of wordpress. How do I go about doing this?

  • Is it an .sql database backup? or wordpress .xmr backup?
If former, log in to your databse thru phpmyadmin and click on import tab. Browse to file and go. Alternately if your host doesn’t allow this (seldom), you can execute the file thru the sql query box.

If the latter, go to wordpress admin and import the .xmr file.

it’s an .sql. However I have been doing that and it does not appear to be working.

How do I do this thru the sql query box. I am novice.

Oh, and will this import put back all the post categories and links, basically all the content I had on the blog?

You have to make sure that the database you are importing the .sql file into is empty or phpmyadmin won’t let you import into it. Once you’ve emptied the database, you should be able to import your .sql file, as long as it isn’t too large. If it is too large, the great thing about Bluehost is they allow you to use ssh access so you can still import it using ssh. (Though it is a little more complicated) Here’s a link I found that could help you with that: https://helpdesk.bluehost.com/kb/index.php?x=&mod_id=2&id=126
