What do you mean you had to reinstall your database? You reinstalled WP from scratch?

When you reinstall it wipes everythings, posts, settings, users. So you would have been regenerated a new username and password during the web installation of WP.

Your old username and/or password will no longer work.

Oops… Sorry. I reinstalled the database. I took my backup and had to re-install it and now the wp-users file is empty and I am not able to log onto the admin panel to make changes. I’m not sure what to do…

Either the export or the import process of the DB was unsuccessful ??

    wp-users file is empty
You mean the table in the database? (there are no files in the DB)

Well I reinstalled WP from scratch and updated an empty database with the sql info and now I can get through the password screen but I get this message = Your database is out-of-date. Please upgrade. Any ideas? Is it a database problem or WP? Thanks!!

It means exactly what it says: The version of your WP install and the database are different.
    Like having a 2.0.1 install (=files) and a database from a previous 1.5.2 installation.

Do as it says: UPGRADE ??
yourblog/wp-admin/upgrade.php – type it in the browser’s address bar and hit enter

Of course I did as it said and it sends me to the admin panel which sends me to upgrade which sends me to the admin panel, etc. ??

I fixed it! I’m not sure that I wish it upon anyone to actually have to reinstall the database after you have backed up…… but I did it! Woohoo! Thanks for all the suggestions here… they got me thinking!! ??
