  • You can re-upload the WordPress files (with the exception of the wp-content folder and your wp-config.php file) and/or your theme’s files without impacting on your site’s content. That’s safely stored in your database – which you have recently backed up, yes?

It appears you deleted the index.php file from the server. Make sure you backup your database and /wp-content, then simply overwrite the WP files on the server. If you’re not familiar with that process, follow the 3 step manual upgrade procedure section of the Upgrading WordPress documentation.
