I have the issue, if I edit the tags of a published post, the “related posts” results won’t update. The consequence is, if I publish a post without any tags (by accident) and add them afterwards I don’t get fitting results for my related posts.

That way the feature is useless for that posts and unfixable.

is there a way to refresh the results of related posts plugin?
I tried to add tags, remove tags, set new categories, reactivate the plugin and related posts… nothing works.

    I’m pretty helpless.

    Hi,

You can reindex your posts via the Debug link at the bottom of the Jetpack page. Typically, we’ll automatically update the index as needed for the events you mentioned above.

The software we use to index posts, though, had a bug that was recently fixed that caused some issues with updated indexes. It is almost squashed and we’ll automatically update all sites as soon as we’ve confirmed it is resolved.

In short, I appreciate your patience and it’ll resolve itself shortly.

    Cheers!

OK, thank you for your detailed response.
    Works for me.

But one more question… why is the algorithm choosing posts from “Musik” in this example, instate of posts out of “Photography” or the Tag “street” ? I don’t get it…

The algorithm looks at a number of factors, including category, tab, content of the post itself, etc to determine related posts. While having the same tag/category can “promote” a post higher up, if there is a post or posts that are “more related” from a different category, we’ll show those instead.

We have some code samples on how to tweak related posts at https://jetpack.me/support/customize-related-posts/ , so, for example, if you have a category on your site that you never want to be promoted as related, you can exclude those from ever showing, etc.

    Cheers!
