Related Posts & YouTube posts don't get along

The Related post, Episode #0 (for some reason it does not pick up Ep. 1 either) just shows as an URL and text. No idea where to even begin to look into this… I did try disabling the youtube gallery plugin, didn’t seem to affect this issue. I do not have any caching plugins.

Let me know if you need anything at all, info from the server, whatever I can do to help.

Post Scriptum: I did try the youtube shortform URL, and both http: and https URLs. makes no difference, WordPress parses them all the same and there seems to be no pattern to the related-posts weirdness based on the url.

Ok, at the moment our Related Posts does not parse Youtube links to show the video. I have opened an enhancement request for that:

We actually try and extract the YouTube link and grab the poster using Jetpack_Media_Summary() for display. It appears however that is failing for some of your posts. Can you provide us with the raw text for the Space Engineers #0: Prelude post so that I can try and replicate that problem?

Sans quotes of course, That is, a URL, 2 linefeeds (1 empty line) and a space on the third line. When I first tried to debug the issue I did try with shortform URLs, htpt and https longform URLs and the issue I had didn’t seem to be tied to any specific URL type.

@bartmoss Do you still experience issues with the current version of Jetpack? I tried creating a post using the same video URL as you did, and Jetpack correctly created a thumbnail from that video. Here is the end result:
