Related Products is a section on some templates that pulls products from your store that share the same tags or categories as the current product.

These products cannot be specified in the admin but can be influenced by grouping similar products in the same category or by using the same tags.

After this explanation, can we say that the related products were created by random if we did not select them specifically?

Thanks for getting back to us.

It won’t be going to show anything under the related products if that condition doesn’t fulfil (share the same tags or categories as the current product).

For example, if you check the following screenshot, the related product section doesn’t appear, as this product doesn’t fulfill the condition, which I described earlier:

We tried but Wocoomerce related products section didn’t affected by subcategories and tags.

We want products with the same category and tag to be displayed.

What should we do for this?

Is there a piece of code that provides a solution?

Related products may not work properly due to the template you’re using so you’ll want to test with other themes (Storefront, TWenty Twenty, etc.). Normally, related products feature pull products from your store that share the same tags or categories as the current product.

It is important to note that if you have a large WooCommerce store with lots of categories and subcategories, the related products area will randomly select products from not only the same category but any parent category above the category set for the currently displayed product.

If you want to only show related products from the same category or sub-category try the snippet on this article. Make sure to save a full backup before you do any changes to your site.
