I have a website for drone footage. Videos as well as still shots. I would like to be able to have the still shots from the morning show up with the video from the morning. If you go to the “Video” from that morning the so called RELATED PRODUCTS make no sense to me at all. Somehow the woocommerce app thinks that a rooftop photo and a swamp and a SpaceX launch are “Related Products” I do not understand how that is logic applies but somehow it does. I gave the Video and all 12 still shots the same “TAG” I was hoping that the Woocommerce would use that because it made sense to put items with a similar “TAG” together, but no. For some reason that logic escapes the program. So my question since I do not even understand how it relates stuff now I do not know how to make this work. Any advice, hints or custom code would be great. I have done several searches of the forum and nothing I have tried so far works.

    Thank you.

  • Hi @thompsonaire

From what I understand, you’re having an issue with the related products feature on your drone footage website. It seems that the related products are not grouping together as expected based on the tags you’ve assigned, and you are seeking advice on how to resolve this issue.

The related products in WooCommerce are typically determined by the categories and tags assigned to each product. However, the algorithm also considers other factors, which might explain why unrelated products are appearing together on your site.

To address your concern, there are a few potential solutions:

    1. Product Categories: You might want to consider categorizing your products more specifically. For example, you could create categories for “Morning Videos” and “Morning Still Shots,” and then assign these categories to your products accordingly.
    2. Product Tags: Continue using tags as you’ve been doing, but try to make them more specific. For example, instead of using the tag “morning,” you could use “morning video” or “morning still shot.”
    3. Custom Code: If the above solutions don’t work, you could consider implementing custom code to override the default related products algorithm. This would require some knowledge of PHP and should be done by a developer or someone comfortable with code.
    4. Plugins: There are several plugins available that can help you control the related product features more effectively. For example, the “Related Products for WooCommerce” plugin allows you to show related products by category, tags, or choose products to show as related products on the product details page of a specific product.

However, please note that Related Products for WooCommerce is a third-party plugin. Any issues or requests related to these plugins fall outside the WooCommerce support scope, as per our support policy. We do not provide support for third-party plugins.

I hope these suggestions help. If you have any further questions or need more assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask.
