What is the maximum time should I consider in Last Updated Date of a plugin before installing?

2 Years, 1.5 Years, 1 Year, or Something else?

  • I usually go by need and then decide to keep it if it works.

I don’t think that’s as significant as looking at the support topics for a plugin. See how long it’s been since an author has posted a reply to a support request. An old plugin may still work, but if you’re using a newer one where the author provides no support, then that’s a consideration, too.

The site warns you that a plugin may be out of date at two years and that’s a good metric. Think about all the changes that have occurred in WP since May of 2018. (WP 4.9, if you’re checking.)
