related_posts(); showing “No Related Posts”

I have related_posts(); in single.php within the loop and up until recently it was working just fine. But out of the blue, related posts stopped showing up, so I tested and tried auto display and it displays a list of 4 related posts right underneath the content and related_posts(); is still pulling nothing. I’ve tried testing and putting 1 in for the match threshold — no change. Help?
