Relationship field & Custom Post types

    Hi all,

    I am developping a site and I have several different post types that I use to categorize information (news, blog entries, courses, etc, etc) Each has its own category and they are displayed acordingly depending on the category of the post.

    I find Custom Field Suite is an AWESOME tool for developers and I use it all the time.

    I was wondering if there is a way a “relationship” type custom field, could display only posts of a certain category when selecting posts. For example, an editor editing a “related courses” relationship list would get a list of only the posts of that particular category.

    Is there a way to do that??? That would be soo much help… in a site with 100s of posts, sifting through a list of all the posts to find a specific post can be a bit complicated.

    I’ve been doing lots of researh and the only way I see is to overload the functions on relation.php using categoty parameters as in:

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Class_Reference/WP_Query#Category_Parameters

    But that would meaan loosing compatibility with updates & upgrades of the plugin.

    Anybody has an alternative to this??

    Hi,

    Just wanted to mark the topic as resolved.

    I ended up creating/registering new post types and CFS auto-magically recognizes the new post types and then lets you can choose the post type you assign to each “relationship” field.
