Relationships Question
-
I’ve been trying to figure out the answer to this via prior answers, but just need clarification. Sorry, I’m a noob as far as PHP is concerned, but love the functionality of PODS as it solved a 4 year effort to be able to display sports results for our youth organization on our website by event and then also summarizes individual results by player. So thank you – we’ve been able to accomplish this via customizing various templates for the specific output needed and it works great!
What I am trying to figure out (and because I’m a noob) is there a way to have a relationship field in results that will pick up the individual fields in say either the tournaments or players pods.
I have three pods set up, Tournaments, Players, Results
Tournaments Pod Fields:
Tournament Name
Tournament ID
Tournament DatePlayer Pod Fields:
Player Name
Player IDResults Pod Fields:
Tournament Name
Tournament ID
Tournament Date
Player Name
Player ID
Result Type (Win, Lose, Tie)
Score
Opponent Name
Opponent Club
SeasonI have pick lists for the tournament name and player name – okay that works, then the rest of the data has to be rekeyed, from what I can figure from my limited technical background.
Is there a way to call additional info (e.g. tournament id and tournament date, and player ID) automatically? or does it have to be rekeyed each time a result is entered? I tried to use relationship, but it will only show the “post title” in the pick list. Just making sure that I was reading the forum correctly – that the template can only call data from one pod at a time and that the relationship pick list can only pull “post_title” and “post_date” (etc) — so, I couldn’t use the pick list or the template to pull tournament id, player id, tournament date automatically from their respective PODs and we’d need to key that information — correct?
Anyhoot, great plugin — our club is real excited about the possibilities and what we’ve been able to do with it so far. Thanks.
