Relative URLs

Is it possible, or has anyone figured out how to use relative URLs?

I’d like Video Gallery to play videos that are stored out of my web root. For example, instead of /home/blah/public_html/therestofthepath/video.mp4 to use /home/bigboost/private/video.mp4 so the video isn’t accessible to the rest of the web.

I hope that makes sense. If it hasn’t been figured out already, could someone point me to the right direction in the code to where I’d need to start with making my own changes?
