• Hi there,

We use your plugin on one of our websites.

Until a while ago it worked perfectly.

Now when we use the search functionality, the website will either show blank page or 500 error. We have now deactivate the plugin on the live website but keep it active on the staging website.

Here is what the log shows related to this error:
2022/01/10 09:19:35 [error] 1199#1199: *7433 FastCGI sent in stderr: "PHP message: PHP Fatal error: Unknown: Cannot use output buffering in output buffering display handlers in Unknown on line 0" while reading upstream, client: 2a02:a464:2c11:1:c8ad:999:cc8d:3fb7, server: staging-wijzonol.kinsta.cloud, request: "GET /zoeken?s=test HTTP/1.1", upstream: "fastcgi://unix:/var/run/php7.4-fpm-wijzonol.sock:", host: "staging-wijzonol.kinsta.cloud:38312", referrer: "https://staging-wijzonol.kinsta.cloud/consument"

Any pointer would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

I have no idea how that error is related to Relevanssi. Here’s a Stack Overflow question related to the error, and I don’t know what this has to do with Relevanssi; the free version of Relevanssi only uses output buffering when exporting the query log.

Does your theme use output buffering in some way? If not, I would recommend asking your Kinsta support about this.

Does Relevanssi admin search (Dashboard > Admin search) still work as usual? If you search while live previewing one of the default themes, does the search work there? Ie. can this be a theme issue?

    Hi Mikko,

Thank you for the quick response!
We have tried activating the default theme, but the issue persist.
We are going to disable the plugin one by one to further debug the issue.

    Thanks for your support.

What about the Relevanssi admin search? Does that work?

I noticed that a search with no results comes back fine, so that would suggest it’s something that happens on the search results page. However, if the default theme fails too, then it’s not on the search results template.

Try disabling the custom excerpts in the Relevanssi; perhaps it’s something in your posts that causes problems when Relevanssi creates the excerpts.
