One year ago someone raised the question if it is possible to have Relevanssi also search content inside page–specific sidebars. The only answer was that it is possible with a bit of coding. I really need Relevanssi to search my sidebars so could someone please explain how this can be achieved? A bit of coding should be no problem.

I refer to this thread: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/search-results-within-sidebar-content?replies=3

If you have sidebar content that is specific to a certain page, it is possible to make Relevanssi find it, but it takes a bit of programming. Let me know if you want to hear more about that.

  • Do you know how you can access the sidebar content if you know the post ID? You can use relevanssi_content_to_index filter hook to add extra content to posts before Relevanssi sees them.

Thanks for your reply! Could you please give me an example if possible? Which file would I have to edit?

No, I can’t give you an example, as I don’t know how to access your sidebars. That’s something you should know. If you don’t know, you need to someone who does know.
