Rel=Nofollow generated by WooCommerce

I have done a site audit with Semrush and this flagged up warnings in relation to internal links with the nofollow attribute. This is certainly no new problem as there are multiple tickets relating to this, but support agents seem to have indicated that this is not a Woocommerce issue and suggested it could be the theme or a plugin. So I have spent an entire day chasing down the issue so far by turning plugins off one at a time with no success.

After asking about this in my theme developers forum, I was told by someone with arguably a lot more knowledge on these matters than myself, that I shouldn’t worry about it. However, I do not comprehend why any developer would add nofollow links that users (many of us are DIYers) would find almost impossible to find, check and/or remove.

When I look at my category and product pages, it would seem that all the links to the products within the category or links to other products that may be of interest to the site visitor are all nofollow links.

Why is this please?

Clearly as a website owner, I would not consciously choose to set my internal links to nofollow. I have checked the settings in Rankmath and they are correct and not responsible for this.

Some of these warnings on Semrush specify the ?add-to-cart bit, but others do not. Here is an example –
