Some SEO experts recommend never using a 301 on an old site’s robots.txt file. When you use Redirection’s Relocate Site feature, however, it 301s the robots.txt file to the new site. Is there a way to prevent this, either through the plugin or through .htaccess?

Normally files like this are served directly by your server, and do not pass through WordPress and Redirection. It may be worth looking into serving it directly.

Thank you. If a site is using the Relocate Site feature do you recommend leaving the rule on the old site’s robots.txt as:

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /wp-admin/
    Allow: /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php

Should the admin-ajax.php allowance be removed?

I don’t think it will make much difference either way
