    Hi all…

I have a bit of a problem. I just moved all my wordpress files to my Yahoo! Hosts root domain for my website (nxtlvlmag.com). Now, it seems that i cannot access any of the rest of the site that i had been putting together. I cant access any of my pages, categories or archives, but i can see them on my dashboard. I did back up the original sub directory that had everything.

What should i do? I hope i dont have to recreate them. Thanks for the help!

no, but i went back and changed URLs for somethings, like my images. It didnt work, so i may just have to re-upload them.

And i checked out that link before doing my transfer. I was not expecting not being able to access my other pages.

Just in case, did you try resetting your permalinks?
Maybe in the move, the .htaccess file was left behind.

    how do i do that?

im not sure if i reset them correctly, but whatever i did still did not work. I tried to create another .htaccess file, but that did not work, i was unable to load one to my server.

To reset your permalinks, you just click “Save changes”.
Doing that, usually creates the .htaccess file, and if WP cannot do it automatically, it will tell you what to write in one you create to be uploaded.

To upload to your server, create the file in a plain text editor, and call it access, no dots. Then, when uploaded, you rename it .htaccess (then set permissions to 644)

Another thing to try, did you check in Settings–> General, your WordPress address and blog address? Did you move to root from a prior subdirectory?

Before changing anything, make sure you read the link that hersonrivera gave you, then follow all the steps, to see if this resets the blog to normal.

i did everything in that post. Another question though…i cannot even see a .htaccess file on my root directory. When i uploaded a 1.htaccess file and tried to rename it, it would not allow me to do so. I went ahead and deleted all my pages and categories and re-inserted them, but nothing worked. This is quite frustrating. please help!

Try to upload a simple text file named “whatever”, rather than 1.htaccess, see if it lets you rename it. Either write the content of the file there, or set permissions just for one second to 777, reset the permalinks, and immediately change .htaccess permissions to 644
