Remaining value of coupon codes

It sounds like the coupons that you are setting up are being done with either custom coding or an additional plugin, as WooCommerce core coupons do not have the functionality to save the remaining value of a coupon for a customer to use later.

Are you aware of the plugin or code you are using?

Could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status.
Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.? Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

As Amanda explained, the way WooCommerce handles coupons is that spending an amount that is less than the coupon value, the remaining value will not be saved — hence, the situation that you describe likely comes from another plugin.

I see you have a plugin called WooCommerce Coupon Generator, so I’m wondering if the functionality to be able to save remaining value from a coupon is coming from there.

While we’re experts on our own products, third party plugins are best supported by their own resp. developers (and more importantly, I’d rather not give you any incorrect information), so I suggest you reach out to the plugin’s own suppor team.

It sounds like you haven’t set the usage limits on the coupon, thereby allowing customers to use it as many times as they please.

If you’re looking to provide a coupon that tracks the balance, like a gift card, so that when a customer uses the coupon for a €20 purchase, they only have €5 left on it, you’ll want to look at the Smart Coupons extension for that.
