• I’ve got my wp site set to (mostly) allow access only to registered users. In order for their comments not to be listed as “anonymous”, however, they have to re-enter their name, email, etc. in the comment form, despite being logged in. Is there any way the site could simply remember their information, and not require them to re-enter it?

  • This may be a browser thing.
If I go to any wp blog and click the comments, my browser will auto-complete the boxes for me.

Well, yes, but a lot of people don’t use firefox (the people who will be using the blog are not technically adept, as a whole). It would be nice if there was a way to do this within wordpress.

Leaving it to the browsers also invites the possibility of fraud (e.g. posting under someone else’s username). A pretty remote possibility in my case, but something to think about.

It’s still a browser thing…. as the info would need to be stored in cookies…. but, as you pointed out, it invites fraud…. so then the only option is to no store the info, which means the users need to pounch it in each time… So which do you want?

Alright, still a browser thing, sort of. But to view the site in the first place, the users must be logged in, which requires a password. The site already stores this info; why not extend it to comments?
