I recommend either using the builtin WP User registration process or one of the many available plugins to process user registrations

After a WP User is registered they can add and edit their own Entry to the directory. You will need at minimum the Link addon for this feature. Here’s the link:

You may, optionally, want your users to add/edit their Entry from the frontend instead of their WP User admin profile page. If this is the case, you will also want the Form addon. Here’s the link:

RE: do you know and recommend a security provider or plugin not conflicting with your plugin?

Connections should work fine with any of the popular security plugins.

One question more.

Wouldn’t the use of “Form” simplify the problem by letting the staff member registring without having to first login into site as a WP user? (If I understood correctly)

The Form addon does not do WP User registration. If you intend to allow all site visitors to submit Entries to the directory (with admin moderation), then yes, you could use the Form addon alone. That said, if you intend to allow a WP User to add and maintain their Entry, then you’ll need to follow the guidance giving in my last reply.
