• Why is it the WP has a default theme as soon as you create an account.
    When you link it to the server it automatically becomes your about/home page. If you customize it you can delete the default text and the header create a single column with no sidebar but try and delete the space where the header was…impossible. I tried looking under appearance/editor to try and influence the php but can’t find anything to reduce the pixel size.

    When I built the page at wordpress.com none of this crap was in default.

    So then I tried adding a ‘new page’ and guess what…this 2010 theme had embedded itself there to…

    Somebody pleas give me an easy out of 2010.

    because without a theme you couldn’t view the site.

    Just find a new theme and install it either via the built in browser, or elsewhere and upload via FTP.

    Twenty ten theme is a default theme and is best to keep it as is and not make changes to theme as if you came across any problem in future with your theme then you at least get your site back with default theme.

    You can search a theme in repository you like and install a new theme.

    In wordpress.com you have all themes you can choose from but in www.ads-software.com you have to install them yourself.

    But what if I just wanted to build my own page like this

    https://wareings.wordpress.com/

    As soon as I copy/paste the html code I get this space above the black line….If you go into appearance and choose custom header it crops half of it out.

    I would make child theme for twenty ten as looks like that is what is used in that website and make changes in child theme.

    You can copy the file from twenty ten theme put in child theme.

    You will information how make child theme here.

    WP.com uses 2010 as a background theme….surely there’s a way to edit the header size to reduce it or eliminate it.

    If it worked .com why not .org

    : https://memreinforcement.ca/temp/?page_id=8

    in style.css of your child theme if that is what you using

    look for this code

    #branding img {
    border-bottom:1px solid #000000;
    border-top:4px solid #000000;
    clear:both;
    display:block;

    change display:block;
    to
    display:none;

    and you will that your header image will not be displayed.

    If you can tell me how to get rid of the sidebar i’ll put
    you on my Christmas list..lol

    I have video and a article on my website how make a custom template for the post so that you choose one with side bar or one without so that in future you still have that template with sidebar just in case you need it.

    Thread Starter shadowfax1

    (@shadowfax1)

    Can you tell me how to remove the sidebar in post….If you hit the link to ‘About Us’ you’ll see its removed. I will watch the video…I’m very new to this…Been using ‘Frontpage, till now.

    Thankyou for your help its greatly appreciated…

    That is because about us is a page and home is post

    If you want you can make home page Static by creating Home page add your content on page and publish using the same template you used fro about us page.

    To make home page static click on Settings Reading and select
    Static and front page select Home from dropdown and leave post page blank if are not going to use it.

    If you want post page in future then create a blank page name it what ever you want and select that as post page.

    (@shadowfax1)

    So I go to pages add/new transfer the html code from my post/page to the new page and call it ‘home’ and make it static. i’ll leave the post page blank.

    My only question is will my new ‘home’ page have the same url as the post page does.

    Home page becomes your root page like if you have wordpress in root than your home will open
    https://yourdomainname.com
    if you have it wordpress in folder
    than home will open
    https://yourdomianname.com/folder

    I see that you have wordpress in a temp folder so
    your url will be
    https://memreinforcement.ca/temp

    Perfect….The only thing now is the extra ‘home’ logo on the top left of the screen. Anyway to get rid of it?
