For archive purposes, I’ve set up an old site locally via XAMPP.

I have the site set up and was able to access it with 2FA via Wordfence. However, I’d like to deactivate the 2FA at this time. I’m trying to do that in the local installation, and when I select the DEACTIVATE button, nothing happens.

(I may want to put the site live again in the future, and I’ll need to replace the current authenticator, so I can’t just disable the plugin as a solution. I want need to deactivate it.)

Thanks for any guidance you’re able to provide.

Hi @bws-online, thanks for getting in touch.

I would probably suggest logging in as normal, then selecting “Delete Login Security tables and data on deactivation” from Wordfence > Login Security Settings, save changes, then disable Wordfence and immediately reenable it in WordPress > Plugins > Installed Plugins. You could always then uncheck the delete setting afterwards to ensure this doesn’t accidentally happen if you put the site live again.

We’re unable to assist with some issues on local/staging environments here, but bear in mind that you may see scan errors or other problems if the site is unable to accept connections while Wordfence is enabled. That may not be an issue in your case, but thought I’d mention it.

I hope that helps you out!
    Peter.
