    Good afternoon,

I want to create another header where all I have is my logo. My current header is obviously stored in header.php. What do I have to remove to make my header bare? I want the social buttons, tabs and spotlight gone.

This header will then be saved as header.php which I will use in my Full Page template (template-fullwidth.php) to eliminate the sidebars.

Since where on the topic, what could I remove to make the footer bare?

    My site is https://www.NateAnglin.com

    Thanks for your help.

  • Are you using a Child Theme for any changes to your theme files:

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Child_Themes

Then modify copies of the header.php and footer.php files in the child theme.

Otherwise your changes will be lost when the theme is updated. It also looks like you are using a commercial theme – which are not supported here. We don’t have access to the theme files (nor do we want them). So you may need to contact the developer for help with this kind of work.

I’m not using a child theme, although now you make me question that I should be.

I will contact the developer, even though their horrible to respond.

Yes, definitely make a child theme — as is you will lose all your changes (not theme options or settings) when the theme is updated — and you don’t want to ignore those either. Bummer if the support is bad — you might rethink using that theme if it’s a big problem.

Okay, I will. The good news is is WordPress has the edit CSS which should mimic a child theme right? Not in the general sense of course. I will need the child them irregardless to replace my heading but I have been putting all my added design into the edit CSS in the appearance tab.

Yep, that custom CSS is part of your theme — which is great – so you don’t need to worry about those changes – phew!
