• Remove author name from hyberlink posting?
I have successfully removed the author names myself from front-end pages and posts etc. with a creating a MU-plugin, but it still there when i copy paste a post/page link into a for example a chat program, (FB chat for example and many more). Once i hit enter the chat fetches the posts name/picture etc and also get the author name.. Sigh..

I been searching a lot on the internet for some solution but found none so far…

Anyone here that have an idea of how you can remove and kill this part of the author names programmatically, (Note: I don’t want to use a plugin)?

  • Find a plugin that does it, and read the code.
It’s unclear what you want to get rid of. The author name or link can be displayed (or not), but it can also be found in the RSS feed or the REST API.

Hi and thanks for your reply.

You take a blog post and copy the link of that post,(or your page that you want to share or whatever), into the chat…
once you do that the application like for example Facebook chat also pre-loads the post which will contain the author name..

Does that make it more clear of what I am trying to explain?

So during the pre-loading of the link’s page/blog post WordPress gives away the author name too including or course the title and featured image.. .

    Kind regards

No, you just repeated what you already said.
As I said, the information is available from REST API, RSS feed, and if you have a plugin doing something so that Facebook gets the right image, then it has OpenGraph tags and may or may not have structured data in the page (either json or microformats which is in the HTML attributes whether visible or not).

    Right.

Hence why i kind of yes repeated it. Maybe I misunderstood you and if so ,sorry about that.

So in other words: I need to dig further down the code then as there could be many sources for where the information is retrieved this..

    Kind regards
