• Sorry for asking an everyday question but after unchecking allow comments disabling and enabling the theme, why would “leave a comment” still be showing?

It shouldn’t. On Twenty Eleven and another theme (Yoko) I correctly get “Comments are closed.” when I unchecked Allow comments. and Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page. for that post.

It may be your theme, which one are you using?

    MT Dark by Blank Canvas.

I will experiment with another theme.

Comment still showing even when using Twenty11. I want *No comments* on anything on the entire site; post, pages, the lot.
I have added contact form 7 instead.

I’m not sure I’m understanding your problem, as a contact form and comments on a post/page are separate items.

Can you provide a link to your site? It might make it easier to see what’s going on.

Leave a reply appears everywhere. At least I have forced it to ask you to be logged in to make a comment (and there is no way of registering).

This page is using a separate plugin

Okay, I’ve been able to reproduce the problem sort of.

When I turn off comments globally I still get the Leave a Comment except for new posts. Those get nothing.

When I edit the post and disable comments then the Leave a comment disappears.

You could try editing your theme and commenting out where ever you see comments_popup_link() which will remove the 1 comment, leave a comment, etc. but that is kind of drastic.

I have the Snow Summit Theme and I am experiencing the same problem. Were you able to remove the comment option TheBizzel?

@cari6781: It is impolite to interrupt another poster’s thread with a question of your own. Please post your own topic.

Please forgive the interruption, this is my first time ever posting anything. The instructions at the bottom of the page said to look to see if there was already a discussion regarding the topic I had an issue with before starting a new one, so that’s what I did.

    A honest misunderstanding, I apologize.

I am trying to remove it in the source code but that’s never easy. Any clues? The theme developer didn’t want to help.
