I do not and will not use JetPack on this site.

MANY other people do not use Jetpack.

However, after installing WooCommerce there is a HUGE (VERY LARGE) [MASSIVE] banner across thetop of the WP Admin:

“Connect Jetpack to activate WooCommerce Shipping & Tax”

AND THERE IS NO (X) “REMOVE THIS” OPTION TO HIDE THIS ANNOYING BANNER.

I have tried adding two different (recommended) scripts to functions.php to hide this intrusive banner and they do not work.

Was there never a use case for this?

Does WordPress allow other plugins to add perma-spam ads at the top of the WP Admin–with no ability to remove them?

  • Hi @anotheropus

I can see you mention not willing to install the Jetpack plugin, and that’s totally fine as you are free to choose which plugins to install on your website; however, the reason you are seeing that banner, is because you have installed and activated the WooCommerce Shipping & Tax plugin, which relies on Jetpack to work. Using that plugin, you will be able to:

    • Accept payments with Paypal Express Checkout using just an email address.
    • Calculate and collect taxes accurately and automatically during checkout.
    • Printing shipping labels for USPS and DHL at a discount.

You can read more about that one below:

    Best,
