I have a multisite config and media uploads go to the /wp-content/blog.dir/site1 directory. That works fine for me. I just need a refresher on how to REMOVE the date from this path and have all uploads dump into each site’s respective path
    (per site)… /wp-content/blog.dir/site1, /wp-content/blog.dir/site2, /wp-content/blog.dir/site3 etc

B4 upgrading to 3.8, i was able to change the path in the media settings config. to remove dates from this path. I no longer see that available in media -> settings.

Is this config still available in 3.8? Has it been moved or do I have to do something drastic (like change config or something which I’d rather not do).

No you weren’t, you’re miss-remembering ?? In SINGLE site, you had that. You never did in Multisite.

    Go to yourdomain.com//wp-admin/network/sites.php

Click on EDIT for a site. Click on settings. Look for “Uploads Use Yearmonth Folders” and change it to 0 (zero)

    But… I wouldn’t.

I found the file: yourdomain.com/wp-admin/network/sites.php but no ref to the code mentioned above. Also went to network settings from the dashboard but no luck there. Nice disclaimer tho ??

No, open the link in your BROWSER.

Ahhh… so viewing that link in my browser is the same as going to the network settings dashboard as explained earlier. However now I understand that you’re suggesting making these adjustments PER site. OK. I’ll try this. https://snag.gy/7o3tL.jpg
    Thanks.

Thanks @ipsenu. This worked on the file upload… i tested it in site4.
And the upload did go directly to the site directory:

Now to change the permalink structure to remove dates and months from post path, i changed ‘permalink structure’ in same dashboard page. from this /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/ to just /%postname%/

When i created a brand new post… the link did not work.

Well … that’s the POST path. Just change the permalinks per site for that one the same way you always would.

Eventually the change did permeate to the other posts. It might have been a lag with cache. Additionally, I did have the correct setting in the site’s dashboard -> settings -> permalink -> POSTNAME selected. Looks like there are two methods to make this change. The one discussed earlier and this method. All work now. I’ll close out the ticket. Thx kindly.

Do not change PERMALINKS in the edit/site page. It doesn’t flush the cache reliably. Permalinks should only be changed via the per-site permalink settings pages ??

See the screen captures to be sure we’re talking about same thing. It seems they 2 mehtods are linked… i.e. if you change 1 part, the other screen shows the changes as well..
https://snag.gy/ahQL6.jpg -> choosing post name here… will change the path automatically on this screen as folows…
    https://snag.gy/eQq7F.jpg … see /%postname%/

if i change the link from the other screen back to month and name… it auto updates the path on the other screen to /%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%/. That’s what i meant. I hope that’s clear.
